Our first love will always be operating. We've built three successful businesses together over the last four decades. As investors in young entrepreneurs, we give advice based on practical, real-world experience.
Decisive
We are not a fund - we're just Tom and Dave investing our own capital. As a byproduct, we are incredibly decisive, generally letting entrepreneurs know about major investment decisions within 48 hours.
Long-term
We embrace entrepreneurs who wish to hold investments for extraordinarily long periods of time. Each of the three businesses we have built we've held for 25 years or more.
Broad Aperture
We generally encourage entrepreneurs to seek out businesses they are passionate about regardless of industry. We have a relatively eclectic appetite for industries and business models we would consider introducing into our portfolio.
Low Maintenance
We select entrepreneurs who we're confident will be great operators. Once you've launched a search or found a business, we generally trust you to provide the right set of updates on a cadence that suits your operating rhythm.
Always Available
We know first-hand how unpredictably and urgently problems can arise in a business. That's why we limit ourselves to 10 new searches per year. We're always around to serve as a sounding board.
